Monserrat Calviño of Spain's Andalucian Agency for International Development Cooperation (AACID) last week announced the approval of €900,000 (Lps 22 million) for agricultural development programs to produce food for families in Honduras' department of Intibucá. The programs will be administered by the Honduran government's Directorate for Agricultural Science and Technology (DICTA) under the Ministry for Agriculture and Livestock (SAG). Carlos Vicente Hernández, who is DICTA's Regional Coordinator for southwestern Honduras, said the money will start to be disbursed over the next two years, beginning in April, in the municipalities of Colomoncagua, Camasca Yamaranguila, and Masaguara, where there are the most severe shortages of food. AACID had previously provided Lps 23 million for food security efforts in Intibucá's municipalities of Dolores, San Miguelito, San Francisco de Opalaca, and San Marcos de la Sierra. Those programs benefited 1,600 families. Foto-Source-URL:n/a
